Five Best Soya Products

From A Vegan Guide To Bristol 2005.

Dragonfly Burgers

Find them in many local Bristol wholefood shops, some spicy, some beany, always moist, juicy and way and above the meat alternative in terms of quality, taste and interest. It is true to say that the first 'non meat' burgers in the 70's were fairly dire and rarely vegan, whilst for many their first experience of a veggieburger has been at a festival, where the non meat version is hardly recognsable from its meaty cousin. Not so these guys ..... Dragonfly are very popular round this way and well worth a try if you are seeking that burger with a bit of va va... lovely jubbly, soya fresh, moist and flavoursome.

Soyafresh

Soyafresh make the most fantastic soya milk makers imaginable, enabling quick and easy, cheap and above all fresh soya milk on the spot. Minimum of fuss, easy to clean, stylish, sensible price, efficient, a must for any vegan/veggie household on account of its ability to knock out a first rate hemp milk too - or most other seeds and nuts required. Available locally in Wild Oats or online from Ethical Juicers

Sojasun Yoghurts

Great development for those who like their yoghurts, and of course a great tool for weaning nippers off dairy. Range of flavours as well as natural leaving you the opportunity to flavour yourself. Great consistency and taste without all the cloying milk solids. Warmly recommended by numerous Bristolian vegans.

Tofutti Ice Cream

toffuti vegan viennetta bristol vegan ice cream bristol uk

Blinding selection of luxury vegan ice-cream from this team of Shermans from across the pond. Made from soya and rich in chocolate or fruit, really gorgeous indulgence no doubt about it. The cones are pretty cool, and they also do a kind of viennetta style type thingy which is like a roll of ice cream and nuts and goo - it's really good. And also what's lush is the tubs that are like a Vegan Hagen Daaz or Ben and Jerry's type style, Belgian chocolate and what not, maple syrup and pecan, that kind of carry on. Divine. God is vegan and few dare argue.

Redwood Melting Cheezly

Whether God had a hand in this one or not is probably likely but not definite but what is definite is that Jenny and Jeremy will be much missed at Redwood, having recently retired and they were very much responsible for the development of this most fantastic breakthrough in vegan circles since Rooney hit Euro 2004. This product beat off everything to win the highly prestigious Vegan Society 60th Anniversary asward for the best Vegan Food Product 2004 and rightly so. Vegan cheese in four different flavours that liiks like cheese, taste like cheese and now after four years development melts like cheese. Try the mozzarella on pizza for the full vegan pizza experience. Or make a moussaka style dish with lentils, aubergine and melting cheddar cheezly. Surely it's just around the corner before the high street pizza stores get in on the act (as is rumoured already). Go on Pizza Express, be bold and see your sales multiply.
