Five Best Top Vegan Blokes

From A Vegan Guide To Bristol 2005

Arthur Ling

Arthur was the first person to manufacture soya milk in this country and he set up his Company Plamil back in the 60's. A truly remarkable pioneer on the vegan lifestyle, Arthur was well into his eighties when sadly he passed away earlier this year. Arthur was busy throughout his life and has a number of achievements to his name, but perhaps it will be his verve and energy for all things vegan that will be most missed. Arthur would be regularly seen at shows and was passionate in his beliefs and his choice of lifestyle, and we wish his family and his company all the best for the comming years.

Gareth Zeal

Nutritional Adviser to Manchester City, examiner in Aiki-Jitsu, power lifter, internationally renowned speaker on vitamins and minerals, top face in the natural products trade, Gareth is an exhilarating dynamic force for good, and a living embodiment of all the benefits of the vegan lifestyle. Straight outta Saff London and with attitude to match, this fella has a huge reputation for his honest, cutting edge incisive wit as well as his vast knowledge and experience. Big fan of trance and rave adds to his cutting edge appeal. Gave several fascinating talks and demos at the 2004 Bristol Vegan Fayre and already booked for the 2005 show. If ever there was a fella to challenge all the negative vegan stereotypes (weak, wimpish, pale and useless, amongst others) then here's your man. Excellent speaker for any vegan event.

Rubber Ritchie

Rubber Ritchie is a contortionist, a real throwback to the Victorian era, and is a recent and now well established performer at various vegan events around the country. Ritchie is vegan, does a lot of yoga and is able to twist himself into a variety of shapes whilst dressed as a city gent, complete with a whistle, bowler and brolly, as well as a copy of The Times. Phenomenal. Been on TV several times, and available for functions, parties, events etc - visit his website, www.flexinthecity.com . Ritchie has been to both the first two Bristol Vegan Fayres and aims to make it a hat trick on Oct. 29th 2005 when he will be in Bristol for the 3rd BVF.

Tony Bishop-Weston

Tony has just finished a several year long stint at Vegan Society, and is now a published author as well as being married too. Tony has a huge knowledge of all the vegan issues and is bang up to date with all the latest developments as well as being in touch with all the main players as well as media in the trade - making him an ideal man for consultancy opportunities for any business or organisation in the trade. His book "Vegan" is co-written with his wife Yvonne and includes nearly 100 vegan recipes, and is available through the Vegan Society. Yvonne is also a trained vegan nutritional therapist and is available for consultancy - see www.foodsforlife.org.uk

Pete and Robbie

www.veganbodybuilding.org This is the website for these guys, who are, as you may have guessed by now, both vegan and both bodybuilders. Robbie is massive when he's bulking up for competition and his site www.raw.veganbodybuilding.org is stunning. Pete is also pretty big, extremely strong and both of them are the nicest blokes you could ever meet. Best advert for the vegan lifestyle you could imagine. They have quite a few mates, some of whom are even bigger and quite a few of them are coming to the 2005 Bristol Vegan Fayre, so if you want to meet them all, come along on October 29th to the L Shed. Loads of info about all aspects of bodybuilding on both sites. www.veganfitness.net is also essential viewing. The pair did a brilliant talk at the 2004 Bristol show and are regular visitors to loads of vegan events across the UK.

Other Top Vegan Blokes

Other well respected vegan blokes include Laurence Main. Dr.Stephen Walsh, Alex Bourke, Benjamin Zephaniah and Donald Watson (who invented the term vegan) all of whom are probably far more worthy of being featured here, but aren't, plus a whole load of vegan/veggie celebrites that you probably already know about.

Five Best Top Vegan Birds due to appear in the next guide.
